Nellies Threaded Needle was born from generations of seamstresses and tailors. My great great grandparents were seamstresses and a tailors in the 1800’s. My mother Helen was a highly skilled seamstress. When she saw a dress, suit or an ensemble she liked in a storefront window or magazine she would study it for only few minutes, commit it to memory then using old news papers she would cut out her own pattern and recreate what she had seen. She handmade all my clothing when I was little including winter coats, snow pants, hats, etc.

In a time of mass production and big box stores, Nellies takes us back to a time when skills passed down from generation to generation resulted in beautiful and useful handmade items.
Hand crafted items have always brought us comfort and joy, like that gift of a new handmade dress you felt so special wearing, or a pair of cozy warm woolen mittens. We continue the tradition today by putting our heart and soul into every item that we craft for you.
Generations of families took pride in making well crafted items. We hold ourself and our creations to those same set of standards today.
